As many of you may or may not know, this past weekend was Singles Regionals, a tournament that sends people to VEGAS!!!
The Triad APA did not have many participants at all, and honestly, this is the easiest way to get to Vegas.
I want to start running Singles Boards in addition to our Singles Mania weekend. So here are the questions to think about...
1. Where do you guys want me to run them? 2. What kinds of boards do you want me to do? 3. What time of day do you want me to do it? 4. What days of the week work better?
I want to know why we do not have many people wanting to or playing on singles boards. I can tell you from first hand experience that this is one of the easiest ways to get to Vegas, National APA pays you $300 travel assistance, and you get $100 last place money just for showing up in Vegas...and you even get your hotel paid for for 3 nights and a pretty sweet jacket.

| Well now that you are aware, when and where would you want me to do them? Typically they are done as 8 people on a board, it is single elimination, and every person pays $15. There normally is a greens fee that the bar will charge, but not always. I would love to keep discussing this further. |

| from what i've seen more people love the double elimination bracket that Angel use to run. that way you have 2 chances to qualify. it just takes a little longer. maybe start with single boards and the people that get eliminated you can put all on a double elimination bracket. just a thought. that and the fact that at league NOONE ever talks about singles. at captains meetings singles really needs to be brought up. If bar owners want to run singles boards then they should get one person to run them for there individual bar. hold them on days bars have double jeopardy. If you want more low ranks qualified then offer them a bonus if they do. maybe one free week of play. But if something isn't done and fast singles will completely die in our area. |

I agree with you Chad ... but there are also the current financial issues for alot of folks ... As for me and Joy we would have loved to do the boards that was held at Shooters this last time ... but just couldn't afford to ... and I am sure lost of other folks are in the same boat ... it is just hard to play in some of these things right now ... plus regular league nights ... So .. - one suggestion I have is to promote the heck out of each event ... get the bars to promote it ... especially on league nights ... there needs to be clearer lines of communication between all parties ... LOL also I would suggest more assistance - money from the league to help pay for the Airline ticket ... maybe about 400 instead of 300 ... anyway just a couple of ideas .. and an oberservation ...

| If you look at it, you technically get $400 to help you get out there because $100 of it is just showing up for last place money... |

I have tried 3 time already to promote singles boards days. I even offered to run them with no greens fees and to separate high ranks from low ranks. But only one or two players showed each time.
I like the idea of running them during Double Jeopardy, but we already don't have enough tables.
I would love to support this any way I can. |

| just speaking for myself here but the reason I quit playing singles boards was due the fact that you have to play regionals against other divisions. It is pretty clear that Daniel over ranks his divisions compared to Raleigh and Charlotte. This is also very clear with the results of teams and singles once in Vegas. |

| We typically do very well against all other areas. The record speaks for itself. |

| Don, if I had known about your singles boards w/ no green fees and a seperate bracket for lower and higher ranks I would have been there. If you run one again, I'll definately show up and will try to recruit as many people as I can. As far as days that would work best for me, I would say Saturdays. It's a night when you don't tournaments scheduled and there shoudln't be much in the way of league that night either. |

Chad you also have to look at the number of people we had at regionals from our area this time too. Each day we had 1 person from our area get 2nd place. On Saturday we had ONE player from our area and he got 2nd place. On Sunday we had about 4 people and 1 of them got 2nd place. I don't think that's too bad at all.
This is why we need more of our players in regionals playing so that we do have a better chance.
All I can say is that if I could do it, then any of you can! :) |

| I was at the past regionals and though i did not win i did notice that all of the players we had there could have won if they played to their abilities. My teammate Mona who runs rackz had a good idea. She mentioned each team running a qualifier or even 2 teams on a match night, and offered to run a couple at her bar as well. |

I'll try again. But we start these in the afternoon, probably about 1:00 or 2:00. |
