"I am writing to forward a commendation to Jeremy Fountain and his team, The Gate City Bandits, 82602, for their sportsmanship.
You probably do not know that our home location, Jake's, lost power in the wind storm early on Tuesday morning. The owners raced furiously to make the best of a bad situation, and by the time we were to start our league match, the best they could do was basically drop lights and a few neons that they were running off of a couple generators (along with more vital things like the registers, freezer, one cooler - the mere fact that they got that much out of two small generators was a small miracle! But I digress.) When Jeremy came in, the situation was obviously less than ideal. I offered to re-schedule or move the match if he desired, but he was as intrigued by the challenge as I was. So Jeremy agreed to play in the circumstances. Through the night, the matches progressed, and not one complaint or ill word was spoken about the conditions, even when Jeremy's team had lost the first two matches. Quite the opposite, I believe that everyone on their team had fun and were extremely supportive of the players on both sides.
Because I have been in many league situations that were exponentially more ideal, only to hear complaints and mumblings about circumstances and equipment, controllable or no, I would like to formally commend Jeremy and his team for their sportsmanship and understanding. I truly believe that they deserve recognition."
